Here’s a golf drill that has been around for a long time. It is a great drill for anyone who sways in the backswing or downswing. Excess lateral movement will make striking the ball with solid consistency very difficult and can also affect accuracy. Over the years, this is the main reason coaches would have given this drill to students, but recently, it has also become clear that this drill can help students develop ground forces to increase club head speed. Sometimes, the old drills are the best.

– Backswing Sway
– Downswing Slide
– Increased Accuracy.

Here’s a very old drill which has been used for a very long time to help players stay more central in their swing. If players have the fault of swaying to the right in the backswing or sliding to the left in the downswing, they could use this drill where you place your feet together, hitting shots, encouraging the body to stay more central, reducing any excess lateral movement. But recently through some technology, it’s also become evident that this drill has a third benefit, and that’s giving you the awareness of creating your club head speed by increasing the pressure underneath your feet with a downward movement in the downswing and then an upward movement through impact, to transfer the speed of your body to the speed of the club head. So, simply by hitting shots where you cannot move right to left, you’ll become more aware of this downward and upward movement to increase your club head speed. It’s as simple as this.
