Here at THP, we have always believed that testing should be done not only by our staff writers, but also everyday golfers, just like you. It is around that belief which we have always put a heavy emphasis on testing opportunities for our members where we put the product into your hands and let you tell the world about your experiences. Every month we send out products from across the spectrum to active members to be a part of THP Forum Member testing.
Recently members of our community have completed one of those eight week product testing opportunities in which six people received iron sets from Callaway Golf’s new Apex Performance Series. Within the group, every iron option in the lineup was reviewed by two forum members, the Ai200, Ai300, and even the Ti Fusion. Throughout their testing the group documented their experiences on the THP Forums for all to read which can be found here.
If you have previously followed this testing or are diving into the link above to check it out, you will see that nobody out there does community based testing like THP does. Our testers left no stone unturned in their work with the new Apex Performance Series irons, but rather than take our word for it, we asked each reviewer to give us a quick hitter of what they saw throughout the eight week process.
Ai200 Testers
If you could optimize your launch windows, increase your spin, tighten up your dispersion, hold more greens, and not lose distance… would you do it? Because that’s exactly what the Apex Ai200 have given me, all in a package that is compact without being unplayable.
They might not have the absolute peak amount of forgiveness an iron could offer, but they will still allow one to get away with less than perfect contact, while maintaining workability. Top it off with remarkable forged feel and sound, superb shaping, and a gorgeous satin finish, and Callaway have an iron set that I believe would fit many golfers. They certainly fit me and will be in my bag for a long time.

As a long time Apex player, I anticipated a familiar experience, but I was pleasantly surprised. Callaway has incorporated their most advanced iron technology into the Apex namesake that has traditionally excelled with performance, forgiveness and looks since its inception. The Apex Ai-200 irons offer a compact, yet powerful design, that can execute whatever is asked from it.

Ai300 Testers
Getting the Ai300 irons in hand for review initially had me a bit bewildered. The Ai300s being a bit more compact than other irons of similar category had me intrigued to what kind of performance I would see. The compact design combined with undeniable forgiveness led me to swing these with the utmost confidence. Combining the sleek look and size, with forgiveness and absolute shot control, the Ai300s in a category all of their own. For me, absolute game changers.

Coming from 20+ years of swinging Ping Eye2’s I honestly had no idea what to expect from the Ai300 irons. What I found was a remarkably forgiving, high launching, game improvement clubs wrapped in players distance package. It’s stunning good looks and compact design removes any negative connotations attached to playing a GI type iron.

Ti Fusion Testers
The Apex Ti Fusion irons have completely redefined my expectations for what a set of irons can do. Their unmatched forgiveness, consistent ball flight, and stunning design inspire confidence on every shot. Whether attacking pins or recovering from tough lies, these irons deliver performance and precision I never expected.

The Ti Fusion irons are without a doubt the most ambitious iron design from Callaway Golf to date. By cracking the code in terms of applying titanium to iron design in a way never done before, I can’t help but think that though these may currently be the exotic sports car of the company’s lineup, it has just opened up a world of future applications for them.
While the finish and its propensity to wear may remain the major talking point for many, for this iron snob it is the size and lines of the design which stand up and stand out. For an iron of these dimensions to offer not only the distance but more importantly lateral playability with their downrange consistency was an eye opening experience.
