Topgolf has officially taken over the former BigShots Golf Firestone in Akron.
Duffers and pros alike will have a chance to take their first swings at the newly remodeled and rebranded Topgolf Akron on Friday.
The venue will be open from 9 a.m. to midnight seven days a week.
BigShots at Firestone opened in 2022 and replaced Hackers Bar & Grill alongside the Raymond C. Firestone Public 9 short course.
A year ago, Topgolf Callaway Brands Corp. purchased certain assets from private golf club operator Invited Inc., the company behind BigShots, including Invited’s operation at Firestone Country Club.
The Akron Topgolf is expected to employ around 100 people.
There are now four Topgolf locations statewide in Cleveland, Cincinnati (West Chester) and Columbus, in addition Akron.
“We are excited to welcome the Akron community to Topgolf,” said Topgolf Chief Operating Officer Erin Chamberlin in a statement. “Consider this an open invitation to come out, have fun and play around.”
To celebrate the opening of the Akron location, Topgolf is offering half price gameplay from Friday through Nov. 21.
The half-price game play will continue every Tuesday year-round.
Topgolf is honoring gift cards issued by the former BigShots Golf Firestone.
