Lottie Woad has etched her name into the annals of history at Augusta National by winning the 2024 Augusta National Women’s Amateur.
Having made her debut at the prestigious amateur event last year, she has tasted victory at the second time of asking, winning by one shot from Bailey Shoemaker.
“I knew teeing off, only having a two-shot lead, at some point during the round someone was probably going to overtake me with it probably being scorable,” she said.
“Because I looked at the pins before and they were in some pretty nice locations, so I was prepared for someone to go low.
“When I ended up being two back, I was like, okay, so I’ve got these birdie chances that they have. Just gave myself the chances at the end and luckily holed some putts.”
Woad has proudly joined the same winner’s board as Rose Zhang and Jennifer Kupcho who have won this event in previous years, so let’s get to know a little more about the young English star.

Hailing from Farnham, a market town in Surrey, Woad is a sophomore at Florida State University. So far this season, Woad has made six top-eight finishes.
She certainly knows how to put away golf tournaments. Woad won the Annika Intercollegiate of last Autumn and she also came second at the Collegiate Invitational at Guadalajara Country Club and the Florida State Match Up.
Woad won the Florida State Match Up in 2023 and all in all, she has four wins to her name on her amateur record.
Just 20 years old, Woad earned First Team All-America honours as a freshman last year, while also representing England in the Palmer Cup in Pennsylvania and the Women’s World Amateur Team Championship in Abu Dhabi.
Currently ranked as the fourth-best women’s amateur player on the planet, the highest point in the World Amateur Golf Rankings she’s reached so far, Woad’s winning mentality and grit under pressure have never been a secret.
In 2022, Woad won the R&A Girls’ Amateur at Carnoustie and joined another winners list of illustrious names including Anna Nordqvist, Suzann Pettersen and Georgia Hall.
