There is a lot of cool gear in the golf equipment world that doesn’t always fit neatly into Most Wanted Tests or Buyer’s Guides. You still want to know how it performs. In our We Tried It series, we put gear to the test and let you know if it works as advertised.
What We Tried:
KJUS Breton Pants: Unlike typical rain pants, the KJUS Breton pants are designed to be worn on their own, not on top of your clothing.
Who Tried It:
Connor. Director of Soft Goods Testing and resident sneakerhead. I believe golf is better with a pair of cool shoes and comfortable joggers. I’ve never been a big rain-gear guy because I don’t like having multiple layers. The KJUS Breton pants intrigue me because they’re designed to be worn like ordinary golf pants.
What You Should Know
- Available in two colors: Atlanta Blue or Steel Grey
- Retail $399
- Eight waist sizes and three inseam options
- Designed to feel and play like an everyday golf pant or trouser
- DWR finish for hydrophobicity
What’s the Big Deal about Pants?
The KJUS Breton waterproof pants aren’t your everyday rain pants. As mentioned, this slick pair of pants is nearly indistinguishable from your typical golf attire. Traditional rain gear is baggy, bulky and designed to fit over your shorts or pants.
This means that, if there’s any chance of rain on the course, you’ve got to pack extra gear and be prepared to throw it on at a moment’s notice. See where this is heading? The KJUS Breton waterproof pants negate this step. If there’s any chance of rain in the forecast, you can wear the Breton pants instead of your go-to pants and feel confident that you’re protected from the rain.
Are they comfortable? Do they feel tacky, sticky or stiff?
Uncompromising
When KJUS set out to make the Breton pants, they had one goal: Make them feel and play like non-waterproof golf pants. Translation? Make them comfortable. I’m happy to report that they did.
My introduction to the KJUS Breton waterproof pants was in Scotland which, by all accounts, is a great place to test waterproof gear. From the first try-on, I could tell these pants were different.
My 18-hole stroll was both comfortable and casual thanks to the Breton waterproof pants. Not once did they pinch, pull or feel anything different than the top four-way stretch golf pants on the market. Take it from me, a guy who prefers to wear shorts, rain or shine, these are the most comfortable rain pants you’ll find.
Making rain gear comfortable is not as easy as making it functional. KJUS really nailed both aspects with the Breton pants.
Value Proposition
I can already hear the comments streaming in: “Why would I spend $400 on waterproof pants?” Your question, while predictable, is completely warranted. It’s not my job to sell you on the Breton pants. Instead, I am offering my honest review. The purchase decision is yours.
For me, the best thing about the Breton Pants is versatility. If I was to offer a value proposition, something that makes the $400 price tag worth it, it would be this.
These pants can do it all. Dinner and a show? No one would know. What about when the weather cooperates a little too much and the rain runs away? The Breton pants are plenty breathable. Waterproof golf pants that can be worn anywhere, anytime, is the definition of versatile. If “versatility” sounds like an attribute you’re after, you can pick up the KJUS Breton waterproof pants now.
