When out with my students on the course, one very common question is, should I chip or pitch? Also, students ask me what the difference is between the two? In my opinion, before you start trying to improve your short game, you must first understand the terminology to aid communication.
I believe that over the years, short game lessons have become too complicated. We are making the simple difficult. I believe in creating one basic set up position for a chip and a pitch. It is keeping your technique consistent that creates a simple, consistent short game with no confusion.
