Puma Cloudspun Vest review: First impressions
Straight out of the box, I couldn’t believe just how light this thing was. There was really no weight it at all, which made me a little skeptical as to how warm this gilet would really keep me. I then tried it on, and boy could I not have been more wrong.
Thanks to the Primaloft gold quilting and Cloudspun fabric – designed for maximum heat retention in key areas – the Puma Cloudspun Wrmlbl Vest fit snugly to my body and offered the perfect fit. The other big thing I noticed was the woven internal label reading: “Stay Warm Enjoy Golf”. It was a nice touch, and I now couldn’t wait to get out on the course.
Puma Cloudspun Vest review: On the course
Prior to testing the Puma Cloudspun Vest, I’d never worn a golf gilet before, so was intrigued to see how it performed on a chilly Sunday morning. I opted to wear the vest over the top of the Puma Cloudspun hoodie, which proved to be the perfect match – both in terms of making me look like a young Rickie Fowler, and keeping me nice and snug.
As you’d expect, the best thing about about wearing a sleeveless vest is the freedom of movement offered. But thanks to the moisture wicking material and outer padding, there’s really no compromise on warmth whatsoever.
It really was fantastic. The soft fabric feels premium and you can tell you’re wearing a quality product. Beyond the fact it provided maximum warmth, two other features then stood out to me.
The first was the drawstring garment that runs along the bottom of the gilet. This allows you to loosen or tighten the vest, ideal when you’re only 5 ft 8 and 64kg and need to compress that excess material so it doesn’t interfere when swinging.
The second was the inside pocket, which is perfect for storing tees, markers and pencils which I’d otherwise carelessly lose.
Puma Cloudspun Vest review: The 19th hole
Honestly, Puma have absolutely nailed it with this winter gilet. While I foolishly doubted it upon ripping over the box, the Cloudspun Vest couldn’t have kept me warmer on the course, and I’ve even worn it a few times out and about when I’m not chopping it around my beloved Woburn.
Crazy soft. Crazy warm. So all in all, perfect for one crazy golfer.
