The change to the FedEx Cup format means there isn’t technically a 2019 Tour Championship prize money purse.
Under the new format the Tour Championship winner will receive the $15 million FedEx Cup bonus.
In recent years the Tour Championship winner didn’t necessarily win the FedEx Cup and therefore there was two winners at the end of the tournament. In 2018, Justin Rose won the FedEx Cup bonus of $10 million while Tiger Woods memorably won the Tour Championship tournament.
To prevent this the PGA Tour has changed the format so Justin Thomas, who is the leader of the FedEx Cup, will start on 10 under par and Patrick Cantlay in second will start on eight under par and so on.
